Join Us in Celebrating 70 Years of Service

70 yearsThis year is a special one as it marks 70 years since St. Vincent Catholic Charities opened its doors to serve the community’s most vulnerable. Opening in 1948, St. Vincent Catholic Charities was formally known as Catholic Social Services (CSS) and promoted the adoption of children. A couple years later, St. Vincent Home for Children was established as a residential facility for children who needed temporary assistance. From 1959 to 1965, St. Vincent Home became home for children from Cuba whose parents sent them over to live until they arrived.

St. Vincent Catholic Charities continued for many years as two separate agencies, Catholic Social Services and St. Vincent Home, but in 1985 they became one with the goal of serving the needs of children and families. Over the years, the two organizations expanded their services to form a Foster Care, Refugee Services, and Family Counseling programs along with developing a temporary housing program to provide housing for those that were homeless and in need.

It wasn’t until 2005 that we merged all programs onto one campus, changed the name to what it is today, and built what is now the Children’s Home. After 70 years of service, STVCC has expanded their services to now include Foster Care, Adoption, Counseling, Refugee Services, Immigration Law Clinic and the Children’s Home.

The past 70 years would not be possible without the incredible support of STVCC’s donors, volunteers and staff. Thank you to all who make STVCC’s work possible. As we look forward to the next 70 years and beyond, we hope we can count on your continued support!
