Lansing Chick-fil-A Locations Offer Free Items in Support of Operation Backpack

Chick-fil-A Okemos and Chick-fil-A Lansing will offer free items to all guests who donate backpacks or school supplies on Monday, August 14 and Tuesday, August 15 in support of Operation Backpack, a back-to-school backpack and school supply drive that provides children served by St. Vincent Catholic Charities with the necessary materials to learn.

“We are so excited to work with St. Vincent Catholic Charities and to help Mid-Michigan children prepare to go back to school,” Okemos Chick-fil-A Operator Nick Biggee said.

Guests who donate at least one item at checkout will receive a free Chick-fil-A product. From 6:30 – 10:30 a.m., guests have their choice between a Chicken Biscuit or Chick-n-Minis. From 10:30 a.m. – 10 p.m., guests will receive a Chicken Sandwich or Nuggets.

The full list of donation items that will be accepted are:

  • New backpacks
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Pocket folders
  • Lined notebook paper
  • Packages of highlighters
  • Colored markers
  • Colored pencils
  • 3-ring notebooks

“Chick-fil-A has quickly established themselves as leaders in helping to better our local community,” STVCC CEO Andrea Seyka said. “We are excited to include them as partners in Operation Backpack as we strive to prepare each child for the upcoming school year.”

Sponsored by Delta Dental, Operation Backpack runs until Thursday, August 17. The month-long campaign is co-chaired by philanthropists Lupe Izzo and Brig Sorber. Additional community sponsors include WILX TV-10, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) and Buffalo Wild Wings. Capitol National Bank and RE/MAX Real Estate also return as community partners.
