It is the objective of this community trauma workshop to move beyond the walls of the Children’s Home to promote within our neighborhoods and community. The workshop will raise awareness of the effects of trauma on an individual and how to notice the various signs. Also, a description of the “tools” and resources may be at the community’s disposal.
The Curriculum
- What is trauma?
- What can trauma look like in individuals and communities who experience it?
- How can our community support each other in a trauma-informed manner?
The workshop will have an anticipated run-time of 1 hour, with a Q & A to follow. The team facilitating the session will consist of 3 – 5 Children’s Home staff. Each staff member is adequately assessed to demonstrate the knowledge on the subject of trauma, and the effects on the individual and within the community.
Through this workshop, we hope to strengthen our community with the ability to combat the effects of trauma and adverse experiences have on individuals. Our aim is to expand the scope of the work done every day in the Children’s Home to the community at-large. We hope this workshop will build a stronger, more resilient community.
