#GIVINGTUESDAY

giving-tuesday-logo copyWe all know about the great deals on Black Friday.  And if you are not the type to leave home after Thanksgiving, you can always catch those great deals online Cyber Monday.  But in the midst of the holiday shopping frenzy, we encourage you to think of the thousands of children and families in need, right here in your community.  #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to give back, and at St. Vincent Catholic Charities giving back is a part of everything that we do!

We are working on behalf of our communities most vulnerable children through Foster Care, Adoption and our Children’s Home. Most of the children we serve have at some point experienced abuse or neglect.  They have been removed from their parents and placed into foster care with many unanswered questions.  This fear of the unknown causes feelings of distrust… anger… and abandonment.  At St. Vincent Catholic Charities we provide therapy and case management support to these children, so they can overcome their past and begin building stronger and healthier relationships for the future.

We are increasing the health and well being of our community through our Counseling Services and Immigration Law Clinic. Many individuals come to us in need of counseling services… but cannot afford the expensive fees charged at private clinics.  Our counseling program helps these individuals address issues of depression, anxiety, grief and emotional trauma at an affordable price.

In the same regard, our Immigration Law Clinic is providing a wide spectrum of immigration legal services at an affordable cost.  Both programs help to ensure no one in our community lacks the necessary support to live a happy and fulfilling life.

We are also “welcoming the stranger” to our community through Refugee Resettlement.

Many refugees arrive here in Lansing after escaping the threat of torture, oppression and sometimes even death in their home countries.  St. Vincent Catholic Charities provides them with safe and affordable housing, employment support, and educational resources to learn English and begin rebuilding their lives.

St. Vincent Catholic Charities is called to serve.   The faces of those we care for are an everyday reminder that our purpose is being fulfilled.   We know how important it is for us to meet the needs of the thousands of children and families who will come to us this upcoming year for help, and we encourage you to join us!  Please consider making a gift to STVCC on #GivingTuesday by CLICKING HERE!
