Allwardt Foster Parent Video
John and Erin Allwardt have been foster parents for nearly two years with St. Vincent Catholic Charities (STVCC). They have put this foster parent video together to share the importance of becoming a foster parent, what they call the most rewarding journey of their lives.
When people learn that they’re foster parents, they’re often told that they’re ‘saints.’ The Allwardts like to set the record straight that they are not ‘saints’ and that every child deserves love. After they attended an STVCC orientation, they knew their hearts were ready to foster.
They warn you though, you will get attached. Children need attachment much more than foster parents need to be protected from it. Foster parents are the lucky ones as they get to be a part of a child’s life, even if only for a short time.
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Taking that step will ABSOLUTELY be worth it.

Foster and adoptive parent orientations are hosted on the first and third Tuesday of every month. They are cost-free, commitment-free sessions that last from 6 – 8:30 p.m. To RSVP, contact Pam Allen at (517) 323-4734 Ext. 1614.
