The Firecracker Foundation & St. Vincent Catholic Charities presents The Caretaker Support Group
The Firecracker Foundation and St. Vincent Catholic Charities is proud to announce the new Caretaker Support Group for the parents and guardians of children who have survived sexual trauma. Biweekly sessions will be offered on Tuesday evenings for eights week, beginning September 15 from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at St. Vincent Catholic Charities, located at 2800 W. Willow St., Lansing, MI 48917.
“You cannot heal the child without supporting their caretaker. Thanks to the generosity of this local community and supported by a collaboration with St. Vincent Catholic Charities, parents and guardians of child survivors of sexual trauma in the tri-county area will be supported, educated and offered the tools and resources they need to help their entire family heal in a safe environment,” said Tashmica Torok, founder and executive director of The Firecracker Foundation.
The disclosure of child sexual abuse can rock an entire family. The Caretaker Support Group offers psycho-education and support to families who have experienced sexual abuse. Licensed mental health therapists will oversee the program and facilitate the groups. Group leaders will work to create a safe space to share questions, concerns and ideas to support one another as they navigate moving their family forward after sexual abuse.
Referrals to the appropriate resources will also be available if additional individual support is needed.
Space is limited. To begin the registration process, please call (517) 242-5467 or e-mail info@thefirecrackerfoundation.org.

About The Firecracker Foundation
The Firecracker Foundation is a nonprofit organization working to honor the bravery of children who have survived sexual trauma by building a community invested in the healing of their whole being. Therapists qualified to treat pediatric sexual trauma survivors are contracted to provide services out of their current practice locations for children ages 18 and younger. Instructors trained to provide trauma sensitive yoga therapy teach yoga classes for teen survivors between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age. Therapeutic services are provided at no cost to children whose families are unable to afford care elsewhere. Find out more at http://thefirecrackerfoundation.org
