ITEC TechTransport Bus to Visit Children’s Home
The ITEC TechTransport bus will visit the St. Vincent Catholic Charities (STVCC) Children’s Home on Monday, June 12 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The visit is funded through a $25,000 donation from Delta Dental, allowing the bus to visit STVCC for the day. Delta Dental also funded visits to Fairview and Reo elementary schools earlier this spring.
“The TechTransport bus provides a fun learning experience for our kids in numerous technological areas,” said STVCC CEO Andrea Seyka. “For many, this will be the first opportunity for them to interact with a computer lab outside of a classroom setting.”
The TechTransport bus is designed with the aim of bringing technology to Lansing-area students with limited access to home computers and the internet. ITEC expects to serve 2,500 students in the greater Capital region annually through TechTransport programs.
“We are thrilled to partner with Delta Dental and St. Vincent Catholic Charities on this project,” said ITEC Executive Director Kirk Riley. “By combining our resources, we move one step closer to ensuring every child has the opportunity to build a successful future.”
St. Vincent Catholic Charities Children’s Home offers 30-Day comprehensive clinical assessment and case planning, stabilization and treatment programs for children ages five to seventeen. Many residents in the Children’s Home entered the foster care system due to abuse and neglect. The Children’s Home provides individual and family therapy, an on-site education program, and 24-hour counseling and role modeling.
The Children’s Home is located at 2800 W. Willow St., Lansing, MI, 48917.
