Sparrow Donates 62 Car Seats to Local Families

Sixty-two children will be safer in their parents’ vehicles, thanks to the donation of car seats by Sparrow Hospital, the Graco Foundation and World Wide Safe Kids.

Sparrow and World Wide Safe Kids donated 62 car seats to families in need at St. Vincent Catholic Charities through a grant from the Graco Foundation.

“Child safety is of the utmost importance and we sincerely appreciate Sparrow’s assistance in providing car seats to the families of St. Vincent Catholic Charities,” STVCC CEO Andrea Seyka said.

The grant provides car seats to 100 needy families in the community. Staff from Sparrow, Trauma Services, and Eaton Great Start were on-hand on Friday, July 7 to train each family on how to properly install and fit the car seat for their children.

Recipients included families from the STVCC foster care and refugee resettlement programs.

“The services that St. Vincent Catholic Charities provide are amazing acts of kindness,” Sparrow Hospital Injury Prevention Coordinator Mickie Kreft said. “Providing car seats and education is just a small way that we can help local families and ensure that all children in our community are riding safe in motor vehicles.”
